Basim was born in Tiberius, Palestine and passed away peacefully in Vancouver, Canada, surrounded by his loving family.
Basim is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Jean, his sister Badia Khouri, brothers Nabil and Atef, scores of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear family friend Sarena.
Basim and Jean lived the majority of their lives in Abu Dhabi, travelled extensively, and retired in Vancouver over 30 years ago. He was a beloved husband, brother, and uncle who loved living life to the fullest.
Basim and Jean have been incredibly generous, giving much of themselves and their resources to both charities and to all who crossed their paths. Although Basim and Jean had no children, they adopted all the children of both sides of their families, providing deep love, financial support and scholarships. He was the forever optimist, having gone through multiple hardships at various times throughout his life. He was passionate about golfing, cigars, and hosting family and friends for advice and deep discussion about life.
Basim will be sorely missed but his influence on those he touched is profound and enduring.
