ADALA holds a fundraiser for Syria

A fundraiser for Syrian refugees was held at the St. James Hall on October 14 and organized by ADALA – The Canadian Arab Justice Committee. The event raised over twenty thousand dollars for refugee relief which will be matched by the Canadian government.

The event included performances by the Aire Flamenco Arabic Music Group, readings by Marcus Youssef of his Play ‘The Adventures of Ali and Ali and the Axis of Evil,’ poetry reading by Peter Borkowicz and songs performed by Rae Armour.

MP Joyce Murray provided a keynote address to the event highlighting the importance of helping Syrian refugees. An auction was held to raise funds for refugees with many individuals, organizations and businesses donating their services. To acknowledge them, we will reproduce the Event Program and publish some pictures.
