Much like the disease they are, and ought to be called; not IS, ISIS, or ISIL have demonstrated once again their beliefs. They are certainly and unequivocally opposed to Islam and humanity. This cancer has attacked and violated Muslims more than anyone else. These cowards who hide behind their baklavas prey on the civilians who do not have much and take everything from them. Their claim to Islam is faulty; the Muslim army under the command of the Prophet’s companion and first successor was given the following rules of engagement:“O people! I charge you with ten rules; learn them well!
Stop, O people, that I may give you ten rules for your guidance in the battlefield. Do not commit treachery or deviate from the right path. You must not mutilate dead bodies. Neither kill a child, nor a woman, nor an aged man. Bring no harm to the trees, nor burn them with fire, especially those that are fruitful. Slay not any of the enemy’s flock, save for your food. You are likely to pass by people who have devoted their lives to monastic services; leave them alone.”
They behead westerners and foreigners, and burn alive the people of the region. They sustained a siege on Kobani for months and failed because the courageous men and women who are there stood up to them. A bully instills fear and terror by showcasing brutality against the defenseless. It takes one strong will to stand in the face of a rampant bully and expose their weakness. Kobani has taken that courageous and unprecedented step of fending off this disease and for that we salute them.
We must now more than ever support those standing against this disease, not only through the use of force, but also by cutting off the flow of support. The world has shown a will to take them on militarily, now let’s stand against them socially and financially. We must stop anyone who is funding and/or encouraging them. The silence must be broken, and it falls upon Muslims, first and foremost, to condemn this vile abomination of the religion. Muslims can no longer sit quietly while atrocities are being carried out against them and under their name at the same time. The Hadith states: ”(When) the time would draw close to the Last Hour, knowledge would be snatched away, turmoil would be rampant, miserliness would be put (in the hearts of the people) and there would be much bloodshed.” Educating ourselves and our youth about the truth of the religion is our only salvation. It also falls upon non-Muslims to educate themselves about the thousands of Muslims who have perished at the hands of these rabid creatures. And with the demise of Lieutenant Moaz al-Kasasbeh, a Sunni Muslim Jordanian pilot, in such a horrendously inhumane manner shows that we are on the same side. We must all stand in the face of this bully and hold to account any and all of its supporters.
